Rules


Article 1 - General Information

Date: Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11, 2015.
Distances: 10K, 21K, 42K, 70K, 100K, and 120K.
Location: San Martin de los Andes, Neuquen, Argentina.
Start: Poplar grove at Barrio Oficiales RCM4 (10K, 21K, 42K, 70K, and 100K) and Centro Civico of San Martin de los Andes (120K).
Finish: Centro Civico of San Martin de los Andes for all distances.

Article 2 - General Considerations

a) Patagonia Run Mountain Hardwear 2015 is organized by TMX Team and NQN Eventos.

b) The Directors of the organizing team will see to the compliance of these rules by all Runners and rule on any issues related to the competition. All inquiries about the race route's technical features, the competition, its qualification system, etc. shall be submitted to the Directors or emailed to [email protected]

c) The organizers may cancel and/or delay the competition due to public safety issues, public acts, vandalism, weather conditions and/or any other Acts of God.

d) Any abnormal weather conditions or any other unexpected event may force the Organizers to reset the race route for safety reasons. In this case, the new race route shall be duly notified. In the event of last minute modifications, the new race route shall be announced during the Tech Talk held before the race. The race route may be modified even during the race due to safety reasons. All changes shall be clearly marked.

e) The Organizers and their Sponsors reserve the right to use, reproduce, distribute and/or publish any photograph, video footage, and/or any other form of recording of the Runners Radio without owing them any financial compensation. Enrolling in the race shall be interpreted as sufficient proof of consent by all Runners.

f) The Organizers shall not reimburse any enrollment fees to Runners who decide to drop out of the race, regardless of their reasons for it.

g) Participants are held responsible for any information provided in the enrollment form, for abiding to the rules, terms and conditions of the competition, and for complying with the enrollment fees.

j) Underage Runners who have turned 14 before the date of the race may participate in the 10K race. Those who have turned 16 before the date of the race may participate in the 21K race.

In these cases, both the enrollment form and the participant's waiver of responsibilities shall be signed by a parent or a legal guardian. Their signature shall be notarized by a Public Notary, a Justice of the Peace or at a bank.
Under no circumstances underage competitors may participate in the 42K, 70K, 100K and 120K races, given their degree of difficulty.

h) In order to participate in the 120K race, Runners shall prove prior participation in any of the following distances of Ultra-trail within the last 2 years, via submission of a certificate or of a link to their race qualification that the Organizers can verify.

*** Any other records of having participated in Ultra-trail races longer than 70K shall be analyzed by the organizers before issuing their final ruling.
i) Any Runner that has been suspended, or who has been found to have used any forbidden substance, or that is serving any disqualification period imposed by any Confederation or Federation may not participate in the race.

j) The Organizers reserve the right to refuse admission. Runners who have been penalized in previous editions of this race or in any race organized by TMX Team and/or NQN Eventos may not participate in the race.

k) Runners who tamper with their runner number will be disqualified.

I) The Organizers shall time all Runners via chips or manually. In order to qualify, all Runners shall check-in at the Start, at all Control and Aid Stations (PAS) and at the Finish Line.

ll ) Assistants to any Runners are not allowed at the Aid Stations. The Organizers shall see that all necessary personnel is available. There will be 2 Full Aid Stations for 100K and 120K races, and 1 Full Aid Station for 42K and 70K races. Runners shall be allowed to forward any personal items to these Stations. In this case, they are allowed one bag per Full Aid Station, the bags will be provided by the Organizers. Each bag shall not weigh more than 5 kilos (11 pounds) . Equipment bags will not be refrigerated. Organizers are not to be held responsible for the loss of any bags.

m) The race will take place in Lanin National Park. The beautiful landscape where the race is held is key to its success. We are all responsible for preserving it, whether we live here or are just passing by. For this reason, we ask that Runners do not litter during the race. Runners shall carry their litter to the Aid Stations or the Finish Line. There will be garbage containers at Aid Stations and 100 meters down the trail. Any Runner who is found littering will be disqualified. This decision cannot be appealed.

Article 3 - Enrollment

a) Enrollment is subject to availability and shall be done online at www.patagoniarun.com, or at the centers listed in the section Enrollment on the race website.

b) Enrollment procedures, deadlines, fees, and forms of payment are detailed at www.patagoniarun.com.

c) Enrollment fees are not reimbursable nor can they be transferred should Runners decide not to compete in the race, regardless of their reasons for it.

d) No enrollment shall be allowed on the day before the race or the day of the race itself.

e) Should a Runner be found to have given his or her place to another Runner, both Runners will be disqualified and banned from any future events organized by TMX Team and NQN Eventos.

f) In order to register and pick up their kit, Runners shall present:
1. Original D.N.I or passport
2. Certificate of Medical Fitness stating:

- First and last name of the Runner

- The following text: ….is medically and physically fit to participate in
Patagonia Run 2015 .....K (the distance should be specified)

- M.D. signature and stamp

. Note: No other type of certificate shall be accepted

Article 4 - Obligatory Equipment

a) For all distances, all Runners shall wear the race-bib with the number they were assigned, which shall be clearly visible on the front and the back.

b) Emergency or signal whistles are mandatory for 21K, 42K, 70K, 100K, and 120K races.

c) Headlamps are mandatory for 42K, 70K, 100K, and 120K races. Depending on the start time, headlamps shall be turned on until 8:00 am and Runners should wear them from 5:00 pm onwards and turn them on from 6:45 pm onwards.

Article 5 - Penalties

a) Runners shall not be accompanied by any motor vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle or any other type of vehicle. They shall not be accompanied by any person acting as their assistant. If this occurs, said Runner shall be disqualified.

b) Runners may aid each other without incurring in any penalties.

c) All Runners shall comply with the race route set by the Organizers. Runners who fail to do so shall be disqualified.

d) Only those Runners who cover the whole length of the race they enrolled in shall qualify to be ranked.

e) If a Runner notices a fellow Runner is in trouble, they are obliged to warn the Organizers.
f) Runners who incur in any unsporting behavior, fail to comply with the instructions given by the Organizing Team and/or breach these Rules shall be disqualified.

g) In case of abandoning the race, Runners have the imperative obligation to inform the Organizers. All abandonments shall only be notified at the Aid Stations, the Start Line or the Finish Line. Marshals or any other staff members outside these stations cannot take record of any abandonment notices.

h) Runners shall inform the Organizers of any medical treatment they may be undergoing, and provide certificates and prescriptions for any medication they may be taking. This information shall be submitted upon registration.

i) Detection of any substances included in WADA's list shall lead to immediate disqualification and banning from future editions of the race.

j) Forbidden Substances: The Prohibited List (list of prohibited substances and methods) is based on WADA's list (World Anti-Doping Agency). Said list can be found at https://wada-main-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/resources/files/WADA-prohibited-list-2014-EN.pdf

Article 6 - Enrollment Fees

Enrollment Fees are available at www.patagoniarun.com and vary according to the payment date.

Each enrolled Runner shall get:
- Access to the race of their choice (10K, 21K, 70K, 100K and 120K)
- Patagonia Run Mountain Hardwear 2015 Tech T-shirt
- Tyvek number
- Chip, which shall be returned at the Finish Line (unless it is disposable)
- Snacks and beverages at the Aid Stations
- Finisher medal

Note 1: In the event of failure to pay within the set due dates, the Organizers may void the pre-enrollment request without warning. Submission of the online enrollment form does not entail its confirmation. The only way to secure a place in the race is by payment of the full enrollment fees, and enrollment is always subject to availability.

Article 8 - Awards

1. Cash: Only for 120K Runners.
a. 1st Place. General Male and Female — 1,000 USD (or its equivalent in ARS at the exchange rate of the day of the competition).
b. 2nd Place. General Male and Female — 800 USD (or its equivalent in ARS at the exchange rate of the day of the competition).
c. 3rd Place. General Male and Female — 500 USD (or its equivalent in ARS at the exchange rate of the day of the competition).

2. Trophies for the first three places, General Male and Female for all distances.

3. Medals for the first three places of each Male and Female Category for all distances.

4. Products provided by the Sponsors for the first three places in all categories for 10K, 21K, 42K, 70K, 100K, and 120K races.

5. Finisher medal for all Runners who cross the Finish Line.
